Alyce Fabel
Proofreader/Head of Content at CasinoRIX 3 years with us
Alyce has been working in online gambling for over 14 years now, these days as a Proofreader and Head of Content at CasinoRIX, which she joined in 2020. She grew up in western France and studied Journalism with a minor in Psychology at the University of Toronto. After graduating, there was a stint at a local magazine and some private tutoring on the side. The psychology background pushed her toward work that actually did something useful for people rather than just reporting on things. The gambling space had a clear gap between what casinos were publishing and what players actually needed to know. Spotting a dodgy operator, knowing what separates a trustworthy casino from a bad one, that’s not obvious to most people. That’s what pulled her into the gambling space.
At CasinoRIX, she has written and proofread numerous reviews covering casinos and sports betting. To make that content actually useful, she spent time getting into the mechanics herself – how RTP works and what it means for a casino player’s chances, and how odds are calculated and what they actually tell a sports bettor before placing a bet. The goal was always to take that kind of information and present it in a way that doesn’t require a player to already know the terminology before they can get anything out of it.
Alyce does the proofreading and quality assurance herself; every piece goes through her before it’s published. Over time, that’s set the tone for how the whole platform handles accuracy and consistency. She also looks after the Knowledge Base and the “How We Rank Casinos” page, keeping both current and readable so players can actually understand what they’re looking at.
She goes to SiGMA and the SBC Summit each year.
Regulation moves fast in this industry, and so do content standards and responsible gambling requirements. On top of that, she’s done three CPD-accredited iGaming Academy courses: The Psychology of Gambling Addiction, Anti-Fraud and Payments Handling, and Responsible Gambling for Online Operators, which informs a lot of how she thinks about the compliance side of content.
Responsible gambling has remained a constant focus throughout her time at CasinoRIX. She makes sure responsible gambling messaging shows up clearly across the site’s content, not as an afterthought tucked into a footer. That’s included putting together informative content to help players understand the tools and practices available to them. She’s also worked on strengthening CasinoRIX’s ties with responsible gambling resources like GambleAware and Gambling Therapy, because compliance alone isn’t enough; the goal is for the platforms she works on to actually look out for the people using them.
