
Ontario’s 2024-25 Q2: iGaming Market Report
The gaming industry saw significant growth across various metrics from 2024 to 2025, with total wagers reaching $18.7 billion. A notable increase of 1.6% in promotional wagers for the last quarter, alongside a 31.7% rise in Q2 last year, showcases the industry’s expanding momentum. Annual gaming revenue climbed to $738 million, marking a 1.7% increase in the last quarter and a 35.4% leap in Q2 of the previous year. Covering cash wagers and fees, this report brings together data from all major operators, excluding player winnings and certain liabilities, providing a comprehensive view of gaming activities in Canada.
Let’s now take a closer look at the main iGaming market indicators:
- Total wagers for the period between 2024 and 2025 stands at $18.7 billion. Specifically, the promotional wager went up a little (1.6% increase for the last quarter) and went up even higher by 31.7% in Q2 of the last year.
- The entire gaming revenue for the year was $738 million. The report shows that the increase was 1.7% in the last quarter and a 35.4% increase during Q2 of the last year. These numbers cover all the wagers in cash, which includes tournament fees, rake fees, and other special fees. The figures combine data from all operators but don’t include player winnings that were gotten from the wagering of cash. The figures in this category did include account operating costs. It also doesn’t cover other forms of liabilities.
- In Q2, the data showed we have a total of 51 operators which support 83 gaming websites and active gaming activities. You can find the list of all names of gaming operators and their respective websites here.
- The number of active player accounts for Q2 of the year was 1.32 million. Those considered to be active accounts, in this case, are accounts that have cash, have engaged in some wagering activities (especially promotions) or both cash and wager in this period. However, the numbers do not mean individual players because people do have more than one account with different providers or operators.
- On average, the amount spent per account every month was $308.
- Casino games provided the largest amount of the total wager. It took 86% of the total wager, and the amount in figures was a total of $16 billion. Casino also took 75% of gaming revenue, with a figure of $553 million. Please note that casino games include slots, table games (this includes computer-based ones), live games, and peer-to-peer bingo.
- Betting brought $2.2 billion, and this figure was 12% of the entire wager for the year. Betting also brought $167 million of all the gaming revenue, which was 23% of the total. In this case, the gaming revenue covers areas such as exchange betting, sports, novelty betting, and esports.
- The peer-to-peer poker earned $417 million, which is 2.2% of total wagers. It earned $18 million in gaming revenue, which was 2.4% of the whole.
