Top 5 Promising Gambling Markets for 2025: Slotegrator’s Picks

New year and new markets emerge. Slotegrator experts have shared with CasinoRIX the list of top 5 markets for operators that are looking for more opportunity in untapped areas

Some of the new markets that are expanding in the online casino world this year include Brazil and Canada. They’re on Slotegrator’s top 5 because they’re making some exciting changes to the market that are going to be of interest to operators. Additions to the list include Turkey as well as some surprising markets, Kazakhstan and Morocco.

Brazil

Brazil is a massive country and the market for online gambling is just as big. In 2025, this is an exciting regulated market to watch out for.

Brazil’s regulated market launch happened on January 1 with much anticipation. Already today, 14 companies have obtained a full license and are able to offer online betting. An additional 52 companies currently hold provisional licenses and will be able to obtain a full license once issued have been cleared up.

Sports betting was legalized in 2018, which has been wildly successful. There were multiple attempts to add full regulations, but it took quite some time for parliament to pass the necessary bills. Just last year, Brazil fully regulated online gambling and is now one of the hottest new markets.

As one of the newest regulated markets in Latin America, it’s impressing online casino and sportsbook operators. With over 200 million people living in Brazil along with excellent connectivity, there are plenty of potential users. Statistics tell us that more than 84% of Brazilians have internet access with 99 out of 100 people that have cell phone plans.

The market that’s expected to generate an impressive amount of revenue is Brazilian football fans placing bets on their favorite teams. Of course, it’s expected that many markets will gain momentum over time with exceptional results in terms of revenue. It’s also likely that revenue will continue on the black market and this is likely to persist.

Slotegrator’s Head of Marketing, Svetlana Kirichenko, highlighted Brazil’s enormous potential as a regulated market. She emphasized that the country’s large population, deep-rooted passion for betting—particularly sports betting—and recent regulatory advancements create an ideal environment for iGaming success.

Canada

Canada has some news in 2025 with another province following Ontario’s lead, Alberta.

In the past, Canadian players have had two options, including offshore sites that were questionable, and government run monopolies. Offshore sites have been tolerated as there were no regulated markets in regions of Canada. This led to Canadian dollars being sent to foreign operators.

The untapped market in Canada led to Ontario launching private online sports betting and casino gaming in April, 2022. The market has been steadily growing since and in Q2 2024, Ontario players wagered CA $18.7 billion.

It’s quite possible that Alberta decided to follow suit based on Ontario’s incredible success. At the Canadian Gaming Summit 2024, Alberta announced it would open its own regulated market. The Minister of Service and Red Tape Reduction for Alberta, Dale Nally made his announcement that the province was working on launching its free and open market. It is based on the model that Ontario released.

Canadians do love to gamble and this can be proven by the estimated 6 out of 10 Canadians that participate in gambling. With Canada’s high level of economic development, Alberta should easily find success and draw a lot of attention to their market in 2025. At the moment, it’s uncertain as to when the Albertan free market will launch but gambling brands are anticipating the release.

William Sarto, PR & Marketing Specialist at CasinoRIX, emphasized the dynamic growth of the iGaming industry in 2024, noting the steady expansion of the Canadian market. He highlighted Ontario’s impressive performance, with consistent growth and new brands, such as Tooniebet, TatinPlay, and CasinoTime, acquiring licenses almost monthly. Sarto also pointed out the increasing presence of service companies, including slot providers and platforms, which signals strong future potential.

Looking ahead to 2025, he remarked on the anticipation surrounding Alberta’s market launch, expected in the first quarter. According to Sarto, many companies already operating in Ontario are likely to expand into Alberta, given its adoption of Ontario’s regulatory model, making the rules familiar and straightforward.

Kazakhstan

Central Asian countries are often not thought about in terms of new emerging markets, but Kazakhstan is full of potential. This is because the gambling market is estimated to be worth $2.85 billion as of 2023.

There are some restrictions in the country, including laws that were passed to restrict advertising. However, there are different options for operators to get their brands out there through different types of promotions. There’s a lot of affordability as well with traffic and collaborations with promoters. With very little competition for online casino and sportsbook operators, you can really get in early to take advantage of this healthy market. Right now, even the foreign brands that do target Kazakh players don’t make them a high priority.

Slotegrator Sales Manager Andrii Lypovyi noted the growing interest in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. He remarked that while these regions have often been overlooked in the past, the situation is shifting, with operators beginning to recognize their potential. Lypovyi emphasized that these markets are well worth the effort for those looking to establish an early foothold.

Turkey

In part, Turkey has become an exciting market due to the stabilization of the lira over the last few years. This is allowing the Turkish market to generate more revenue with strong currencies like the euro. There’s plenty of traffic so odds are good to convert that traffic into high revenues.

Experts in the iGaming industry predict that around 8 million Turks aged 18 to 50 are bettors. This is almost 10% of the total population so the country is expected to go beyond $1.5 billion within five years. This makes the Turkish market a great opportunity for those who want to get in first.

Morocco

There are already different forms of regulated gambling in Morocco but so far, online casino gaming isn’t one of them. Despite a lack of regulations, it doesn’t mean there isn’t traffic or interest by Moroccans. Statista says that Morocco’s online gambling market is likely to generate $48 million in revenue this year. This number is expected to rise to $50.52 million by 2029. Regulated sports betting in Morocco is strong and likely to reach a market volume of $47.98 million in 2025.

The size of the market right now shows what is truly possible in the country. For example, experts expect user penetration to get as high as 11.9% this year with a total number of users being as much as 5.5 million by 2029. Needless to say, there is a lot of opportunity for operators based on the amount of potential bettors are out there. It just takes some work to reach them.

Slotegrator Sales Manager Ataur Abeer highlighted the untapped potential in countries like Morocco and Tunisia, expressing surprise at how many businesses overlook these markets. He emphasized the clear demand from players in these regions, suggesting significant opportunities for operators willing to invest the effort to engage with these audiences.
