Ontario’s 2024-25 Q1: iGaming Market Report
In this report, we’ll cover the first quarter (Q1) of the 2024/2025 fiscal year on market performance. The first quarter covers activity from April 1 to June 30, 2024 and covers the iGaming market in Ontario. It includes all Operators with online casinos and sportsbook with trading activity.
There are 50 regulated Operators now licensed in Ontario with an increase of 1/3 when it comes to wagers and overall revenue from the year before. The revenue that’s generated from Ontario iGaming directly affects the province in positive ways helping with infrastructure, the healthcare system, and education. At CasinoRIX, we put together some data regarding the Ontario iGaming Market Report.
iGaming Market Report Data
The wagers for the first quarter amounted to $18.4 billion. This didn’t include bonuses wagered. This is a 3.4 increase from the last quarter and 31% over the first quarter of last year. The overall gaming revenue was $726 million, which was an increase of 5.2% from the fourth quarter of the previous year. This figure includes all cash wagers, rake fees, fees for tournaments and any other additional fees. It includes all Operators associated with Ontario iGaming. This figure doesn’t include the winnings players were able to cash out or operating costs.
Player Accounts
Nearly 1.9 million players accounts were created during the first quarter of 2024. Active player accounts include ones that had cash or promo wagering activity during the first quarter. They don’t represent each individual as there may be players who hold accounts with more than one operator. Each active player spent an average of $284 monthly.
Casino Games and Sportsbetting Stats
Casino games like slots, RNG table games, live games, and bingo accounted for nearly $15.5 billion in wagers for a total of $529 million in gaming revenue. Sports betting accounted for $2.5 billion for a total gaming revenue of $181 million in revenue. Peer-to-peer poker made up for $402 million in wager with gaming revenue of $16 million.
